I am a follower of Hill’s message, however, I am first a follower of Christ, and this is why I decided to participate in this project, to tell my story and witness to the Gospel. In my chapter, I reveal my personal success secret… my Faith in God… in fact, in the conclusion of my chapter I write…
We can do nothing worthwhile without God.
The Central Part of My Message is …
It is never too late to turn your back on a life that doesn’t serve you (or God)…
I finally realized my life was not serving me, my kids and especially God, I made the tough decision to change my life for the better, it was not easy however. It took a series of serious setbacks to get me to wake up. As they say, I hit rock bottom. Here is a little preview of how this series of setbacks began from my chapter entitled:
Persistence and Faith: An Unbeatable Combination…
October 22, 2004. Dave the CEO, the woman from Human Resources and a tall, serious looking man arrived at my office door. It was about 3:00 O’clock in the afternoon. Dave said the tall man was with corporate security. DSI didn’t have corporate security so I knew it was going to be bad news.
Losing a dream job was the first setback that awakened in me the desire to lead a better life, fulfilling my purpose as father, parent and believer in God. Here are some lessons I learned along the way.
Five Life Lessons Learned from my Journey to Success
- Focus on helping others first, instead of focusing on yourself.
- It’s never too late to change your ways and turn your back on a life that does not serve you.
- Find your big reason why. Napoleon Hill calls this Definiteness of Purpose. My purpose is to be the best possible Christian, father, businessperson, musician and friend. My dedication and focus is on raising my sons and being present for them in the best way possible. You need a good reason never to quit.
- Be persistent. Set goals, review them daily, and make course corrections along the way. Make a plan and follow it. Never ever, give up.
- Structure, discipline and accountability. Restructure your life and your day. Be careful of your associations, especially negative influences. Seek out a mentor, coach and/or accountability partner. Make your goals known publicly so your coach, family and friends can hold you accountable.

What Others Say
In Journeys to Success Volume 2, Mr. Guyon tells the story of how he has learned that you need a plan, to stay focused, be able to change if need be, to stay positive and have a deep inner faith in God to be successful. He also realizes that if you help others, good things happen. Paul is persistent and makes sure that he is accountable to himself and his Lord. I highly recommend this book!

What a gift it was to read these stories. This is a brilliant collection of how ordinary people overcame their situations to find a place of peace, fulfillment and understanding. Inspiring, honest and real.

What strikes me about this book is that these people are just like me. They put on their pants the same way, struggle, fail and hit low points – just like me.
There’s something very powerful in a personal story. These ones are fantastic. At the same time you want to race through, you also want to linger and savor the grit, wisdom and triumph of each story.
There’s a common thread; a paradigm shift. A digging deep within the stories. Even as they’ve struggled like me, they show me there’s more to life than fighting proverbial fires.
Don’t pass this one up, it’s a gem!
